We’re kicking off the quarter with enhancements that strengthen coordination, oversight, and structure across your workspace.

Not sure if someone’s in a meeting? This release clears that up. Rocket.Chat automatically updates user statuses based on Outlook meetings to provide real-time visibility into team availability.

Want more information on why a critical setting was changed? We've introduced comprehensive logs that record every settings change, giving you a clear trail of what was modified, when, and by whom.

Alongside these, we have a few updates that support your org structure for large and complex government agencies, language consistency for global teams, and better API integration.

Every change in this release is shaped by real operational needs, making it easier to align critical systems with the way your teams actually work.

Set clear availability expectations, so others know when to engage

In high-stakes environments, clarity around personnel availability isn’t just helpful, it’s table stakes.

Rocket.Chat now syncs your user status with your Outlook Calendar meetings automatically, so your availability in Rocket.Chat always reflects accurately.

Whether you’re running a secure planning session or jumping between coordination calls, your team instantly knows whether you're available, without the need to ping and wait.

If you’re in a scheduled meeting, your user status automatically switches to “busy.” When the meeting ends, it updates back to your previous status. And if you prefer to keep your status as-is during the meeting or make a manual change during the meeting, we’ll stick with what you’ve set.

This comes in handy when you’re coordinating a classified briefing. With synced presence, others know not to interrupt unless it’s critical, so the distractions are as minimal as possible.

Admins can enable this workspace-wide; it's available in the desktop version of Rocket.Chat.

It’s a small change that helps your entire operation run more smoothly because it eliminates missed cues, surprise pings or the need to explain why you’re not responding.

Log critical changes so nothing goes unnoticed

In secure environments, even small changes to workspace settings can have big consequences.

Rocket.Chat now logs every event tied to user and workspace setting changes, so you have a clear record of what changed, when, and by whom. You don’t just see that a change happened; you also see what the setting was before, and what it was changed to.

Whether someone adjusts permissions, updates retention policies, or tweaks security settings, you can trace it all through our APIs.

That makes it easier to investigate incidents, meet strict security requirements, and maintain operational integrity across your deployment.

For teams operating in regulated environments, this gives another layer of control that keeps your operation secure, auditable, and accountable.

Enhancements for multilingual teams

Improved scrolling experience for right-to-left languages

We’ve improved the scrolling experience by switching to overlayscrollbars, fixing visual glitches and accessibility issues for RTL languages (it refers to languages that are written and read from right to left such as Arabic, Hebrew, and so on). It’s a small change that makes a big difference for multilingual teams working across regions.

Unicode support for default avatars - thanks to our community!

Default avatars (those automatically generated with initials or characters) can now include Unicode characters, so non-alphanumeric names display correctly for users and channels. For global teams or multilingual deployments, this ensures that names using native scripts or special characters are properly represented. This update came from a community contribution, and it's a reminder that some of our best ideas come from the people using Rocket.Chat every day.

Standardized Norwegian language variants

We’ve standardized how Norwegian variants are named and mapped across Rocket.Chat and Lingohub. That means lesser confusion and a consistent translated experience for teams working in Bokmål or Nynorsk. This is especially valuable for public sector teams operating in multilingual environments.

Other enhancements

OpenAPI support enabled

Rocket.Chat now supports OpenAPI, making our API documentation clearer and more compatible with external dev tools. If you’re building on top of Rocket.Chat, this helps your developers integrate faster.

New hook for Livechat apps

We added the executeLivechatRoomCreatePrevent hook to Apps-Engine that lets custom apps block the creation of live chat rooms when needed. Ideal for environments where conversations need to be tightly controlled.

Map departments to the right business units

Admins can now assign a business unit when creating or editing a department. This makes it easier to mirror how your organization is structured in the real world. Helpful for large government agencies managing multiple units across distributed teams.

Bug fixes

This release includes a number of fixes to improve overall stability, performance, and user experience. For a complete list of resolved issues in Rocket.Chat v7.5, check out the official release notes.
